On the morning of September 17, 2025, the School of Humanities and Law held a special lecture on "Intellectual Property Law and Public Interest" in the lecture hall of the library. Professor Feng Xiaoqing from China University of Political Science and Law, doctoral supervisor, gave the lecture to faculty and students of CHL.
Professor Feng Xiaoqing analyzed the construction and realization of the interest balance mechanism in intellectual property law. Through typical domestic and foreign cases, he systematically expounded the core position of private right protection in the intellectual property system and the important role of public interest in intellectual property law. He pointed out that although intellectual property rights are private rights, they have strong public attributes. The purpose of their legislation is not only to protect the legitimate rights and interests of creators but also to promote the dissemination of knowledge and cultural prosperity, and realize the organic unity of personal interests and public interests. In the new era of the rapid development of artificial intelligence, intellectual property law should pay more attention to the public interest orientation, improve the system design, and respond to the challenges brought by technological changes.
